What is a BES sponsored meeting?
Some scientific meetings in the field of bioelectrochemistry are labelled "BES sponsored Meeting". What does this mean?
Besides organizing its own meetings, such as the BES biannual Meetings, BES may sponsor other international scientific meetings in the area of bioelectrochemistry.
BES sponsorship is intended to be a sign of quality for the meeting.

What are the requirements for BES sponsorship?
BES requires that the scientific quality of the meeting reaches the standard of its own biannual meetings. It is desirable that the advisory board includes BES members, as far as possible. The meeting must be open to all BES members.

What are the obligations of the organizers?
The organizers have to publicise the BES sponsorship in all the official documents related to the meeting (announcements, program, website etc.). At the meeting, a representative of BES must be allowed to say a few words on behalf of the Society, and BES must have the opportunity to advertise. After the meeting, the organizers should submit a short report to BES.

Who decides?
The Bioelectrochemical Society Executive Committee decides on the congress or school sponsorship amount, which should be used to support the congress fee of students.

What do the organizers receive from BES?
BES publishes announcements and reports of BES sponsored meetings on its website.

How to apply for BES sponsorship?
Requests concerning BES financial support for Conferences and Schools should be sent, iin the above form at least 9 months in advance of the time, by e-mail to the Secretary General of the Bioelectrochemical Society, Prof. Edmond Magner, edmond.magner@ul.ie, and will then be submitted to the President.
The application should list the main theme of the meeting, the organising committee, a preliminary program, the date and location, and any other useful information.
